When do LSAT scores come out?

Each administration has its own release date, published by LSAC, and scores appear at a fixed time on that date. What catches people out is not the date — it is the two conditions attached to it.

The writing sample is a gate, not a formality

This is the part worth acting on. The Argumentative Writing section is unscored, so it is easy to treat as optional and put off. It is not optional for the purpose of seeing your score: LSAC's condition is an APPROVED sample on file.

So the sequence that hurts is doing the test, skipping the writing, and then watching release day pass with nothing in your account. If you have not completed it, that is the thing to go and do — everything else about release day is out of your hands.

Account holds

The second condition is that your account has no holds. Holds are administrative — unpaid fees and similar — and they are worth checking before test day rather than discovering on release morning, because resolving one takes time you will not have.
